I’m a writer and entrepreneur who grew up in family business, first on our family farm in my parents’ mail order business. Later, I started a brick-and-mortar retail store with my family, dropping out of high school to build and scale that business.

I spent more than a decade in the business, navigating the responsibilities, opportunities, and emotional complexities that came with it. Like so many others in similar positions, I learned early that the thrill of success and burden of obligation can make it difficult to separate what you can do from what you actually want to do.

There came a moment when, in my most financially successful year ever, I realized that I was showing up—but I wasn’t present. It was terrifying. But it was clearly time to go.

My work isn’t about rejecting responsibility or chasing reinvention. It’s about cultivating clarity so that decisions about work, family, and the future are made intentionally rather than by default.

Over time, I’ve learned that clarity isn’t something you find once and then move on from. It’s something you practice. It requires patience, honesty, and a willingness to sit with discomfort and uncertainty long enough to make decisions you can stand behind.

Periods of transition in a family businesses can feel lonely. My writing explores growth, work, relationships, and the ongoing effort of cultivating clarity—especially when the stakes are personal and the timelines are long.

I don’t offer shortcuts, hacks, or borrowed certainty. I write for people who are willing to do the lifelong work of thinking for themselves. Clarity takes time. That’s the point.
